What makes a true gymnast?
Gymnasts have to be strong. Gymnasts need to be mentally capable. Everyone knows that. But most of all, gymnastics, like any other sport, requires dedication more than anything. To be a gymnast, you need to have the dedication to practice when you need to. To be a gymnast, you need to come up when you're injured. You need to keep trying in a meet, even when you know losing is absolutely, positively certain. Without dedication, you can't be good in anything. Anything at all.
In order to have dedication, you have to enjoy it. You have to enjoy gymnastics. Are you doing gymnastics because your parents want you to, or to show off for your friends? You probably don't enjoy it very much, then. Two of the many plus sides of gymnastics are making your parents proud and impressing your friends. If you're only focusing on one thing, not the fun of the sport, then you've got it wrong. Real, screwed-up wrong. Enjoy the sport. Don't just play to win, or to get ice-cream after meets. Do it because it's fun.
